What it means to be on fire for God :)

Hello darlings

Deputy mother goose here. Rumor has it this blog is comatose? Aiyohh CHOY AH. Sorry for the lack of updates. Recounts of our 3rd quarter events will come soon, so watch this space!

It’s the weekend, finally. πŸ™‚ it’s been a truly eventful week! Praise God for VBS 2011, for the lives touched, the friendships forged and 5 little souls that accepted Jesus into their hearts. Despite their age, they astounded me with many questions. “What is hell like?” “my mom says the people that go to hell will be born again on earth. Is it true?” “how do I listen to God?” Woahh.

Lesson learnt – never underestimate the mind of a 5 year old.

As these children grow up, they will start asking deeper questions pertaining to spirituality. Let’s keep them in prayer, that the seeds planted now will flourish someday, and that their faith will continue to grow. And that their families will allow them to come to church and join us for more activities. Most of these kids come from non-Christian families.

How does this post’s title have anything to do with its content anyway? Okay! This morning, I came across a nice reading that was worth sharing. By God’s grace, our youth ministry has grown so much this year. We’re starting to see new faces leading worship, planning events, and teaching. I really thank God for our family of like-minded individuals, who have surrendered to our Father’s calling to serve.

Here it is:

Psalms 100:2 says, “Serve the Lord with gladness“. However there are many who serve without joy.
They did not start this way. They may well have started serving with joy but subsequently, they got hurt and resentful. They began to feel taken for granted, neglected and unappreciated (…)

The heart of this problem is people. Serving God is the easy part; the harder part is serving people. This is especially true whe serving unreasonable or unappreciative people. And sometimes just one person is enough to rob us of our joy!

But is this the real reason for service without joy? I doubt it. I suspect the real reason stems from our inner life. Lack of joy simply stems from the lack of composure in our inner life. We allow our compulsions to take over. Our ego gets in the way. we need to see things from God’s perspective.

All of you are an inspiration to me. I pray that if any of us are tempted to give up, that we will keep looking to God for direction the discipline to submit to Him. As we serve, we might encounter people who are difficult to love, or situations that make us feel that our efforts are expended in vain. Don’t give up! πŸ™‚

(Philippians 2:13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

May our ministry continue to stay committed to doing all that we do for God’s glory.

Have a blessed weekend, rest well and see you guys this Sunday!

Love
